Louvre take on the Val Des Terres in Charitable Challenge

Louvre is taking part in the Mount Everest Val Des Terres Challenge this January to raise money for the Sarah Groves Foundation and Guernsey Mind.

The challenge requires participants to climb the equivalent of Mount Everest which is 8850 metres above sea level, equating to climbing the Terres 115 times. The challenge is open to individuals and groups who can share the commitment.

The challenge is the first activity for the Louvre Charitable Foundation in 2020.  Matthew Gilligan, Client Relationship Manager at Louvre Trust (Guernsey), said: “We are really pleased to be starting 2020 literally on a high and taking part in the Terres Challenge. It is quite a feat but the team is very much on board with the event and the two beneficiary charities will be the first the Foundation supports this year.

“We are aiming to support a charity per month during 2020 through a combination of challenges and fundraising. We want to maintain our aim to be able to support a wide range of  charitable initiatives across the Bailiwick.”

This is the second time the event has been held and the current record is held by a Guernseyman who completed the challenge in 13 days.
