Laura Tardif Takes on the Dancefloor Challenge
This month, Louvre Fund Services’ Laura Tardif is swapping the office for the dancefloor as she takes on this year’s Dancefloor Challenge, in aid of the Guernsey Amateur Dancesport Association and Headway.
Laura is not only PA to Kevin Gilligan, MD of Louvre Fund Services, but also assists with business’ events and HR function in addition to fulfilling the role of office manager.
Always up for a challenge, Laura couldn’t wait to sign up when the opportunity presented itself.
She will be dancing the Rumba and group dance with partner Marc Griffiths and, having never danced Latin or Ballroom before, is finding the training tough mentally. The routines are very technical which makes for intense sessions, learning a lot in a very short amount of time.
With less than a week to go, Laura says: ‘It has been a much bigger challenge than I anticipated. I hate people watching me, and I am petrified about the whole thing.
‘Apart from wanting to challenge myself, I also signed up so that my children could watch me do something rather than be the one that runs them around and feeds them! My daughter’s passion is dancing, so hopefully, this will give me an insight into the world she loves.
‘I am very competitive and a bit of a perfectionist, so I have put extra pressure on myself, but it has been great fun, and I feel I have achieved something. The parading around and being presented is what I am dreading the most, but I have been told to enjoy it as it will be over quickly and to prepare myself for a big low once it has finished.
The Dancefloor Challenge takes place on Friday 27th April, and everyone at Lourve wishes Laura and Marc the best of luck.
